Projects You Can Do in One Day

Projects You Can Do in One Day

As much as we all love DIY-ing, most of us just don’t have the time required for the projects that are popular right now. But it doesn’t have to end there – plenty of projects can make a huge impact in your home without demanding your time and money. If you want to learn about three creative DIY projects that anyone can do in one day or less, keep reading.

Accent Wall

There’s a reason why accent walls have been trending for years. Whether you choose to display complementary colors, patterns, or textures, an accent wall is a great way to try out a design trend without committing it to the entire room. One of our favorite ways to do this is by installing a wood-paneled wall. With some hardwood, caulk, a nail gun, a saw, and a few hours, your room will be completely transformed.

We recommend Mohawk Woodmore or Shaw Castlewood Oak for a look that works with any design style, from farmhouse to contemporary. Or, if you aren’t sure what type of hardwood you’re looking for, come visit our design studio. We have hundreds of options available, and one of them is perfect for your home.

If a simple, modern, yet luxurious accent wall is more your style, vinyl is the perfect option. It’s inexpensive, customizable, and moisture-resistant. It works perfectly in nearly any space, from laundry rooms to bedrooms. Plus, it’s quick and easy to
install – most vinyl is applied in sheets like a sticker. With a little preparation and a few hours, you’ll be left with a beautiful space that feels completely new.

Tiling

You’ve seen tile walls and floors, but have you seen tile on the ceiling? This DIY is perfect for anyone who is looking for a unique way to feature this beautiful material without breaking the bank. Choose to add this to a small area like a bathroom or hallway for an accent in an unexpected place. Our tile experts recommend using metal or tin tiles for this project because they are lightweight and simple to install

If you’re looking for a way to use tile on a smaller area, this material can also be added to furniture. One easy way to do this is by tiling a tabletop. All you need to complete this project is individual tiles, heavy-duty glue, grout, and a top coat to complete this simple project. This DIY works beautifully on tables of any size and shape, and is fully customizable to your design style. The best type of tile for this project is porcelain – it’s durable, scratch-resistant, and comes in a variety of colors and patterns. A few of our favorite porcelain tiles are Marazzi GeoMetal and the Emser Design Series.

Hardwoods
If you recently replaced your floors with new hardwoods, you probably have some extra hardwood planks laying around. Instead of letting this material go to waste, try repurposing it! Hardwood flooring makes for perfect shelves, and assembling them only requires a few supplies and a few hours. Why do we love this DIY? It’s practical, beautiful, and a great way to reuse material you already have.

Regardless of your style, you can give your walls, ceilings, or furniture a completely new look in just one day without breaking the bank – your wallet and schedule will thank you later! As always, if you try one of these projects out, be sure to tag us @citytile. We can’t wait to see what you create!
